Academic Education and Career
Alla K. Frolkova graduated cum laude from the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow Institute of Fine Chemical Technology (MITHT) in 1977. She received her Candidate of Sciences degree in 1980. Her dissertation was titled “Development of technological schemes for separation of polyazeotropic mixtures using auto-extractive rectification.” She received her Doctor of Sciences degree in 2000. Her dissertation was titled “Theoretical foundations for separation of multicomponent multiphase systems using functional complexes.” She was awarded a Professor title in 2001.
Since 1980, Alla K. Frolkova has been working at MITHT. From 2000 to 2005, she was the Vice Rector for Research at MITHT, and from 2005 to 2015, she held the position of the Rector at the institution. Since 2012, she has been the Head of the Department of Chemistry and Technology of General Organic Synthesis.
Research Interests
– Chemical technology of organic substances;
– Thermodynamics of heterogeneous equilibria of multicomponent systems;
– Thermodynamic and topological analysis of phase diagram structures of multicomponent multiphase systems;
– Synthesis of technological schemes for the separation of mixtures of organic products using various functional complexes.
Alla K. Frolkova is the head of grants of the Russian Science Foundation, Russian Foundation for Basic Research, as well as of the RF Ministry of Education and Sciences projects.
Alla K. Frolkova is a Member of the Presidium of the Board of the D.I. Mendeleev Russian Chemical Society, an affiliate of the Council of the Russian Union of Chemists, and a Member of the jury of D.I. Mendeleev Competition of Chemistry Students. She holds the role of the Editor-in-Chief of the Tonkie Khimicheskie Tekhnologii [Fine Chemical Technologies] journal and is a member of the editorial boards of the Theoretical Bases of Chemical Technology, Chemical Technology, Water Purification, Water Treatment, and Water Supply journals.
Publications and Academic Advising
Alla K. Frolkova is an author and co-author of more than 250 scientific publications, including 77 papers in Scopus, 3 monographs, 19 study guides, and 10 inventions. She has supervised 11 Candidate of Sciences dissertations and one doctoral dissertation.
Awards
Among her honors, Alla K. Frolkova was awarded the “Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation” (2000) and “Honorary Worker of Science and Technology of the Russian Federation” (2011) titles. She was also awarded a prize from the Russian Federation Government in the field of education for the creation of “Russian innovative educational and scientific complex for training personnel in the field of biotechnology” (2007). In 2007 and 2013, Alla K. Frolkova was presented with two prizes from the International Academic Publishing Company MAIK Nauka/Interperiodica for best publications.
